2010 Be Aromatic Before the Lord

Isaiah 11: 1-3

Vs. 1- “And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots…” (Lineage stock)

*Branch

  • not a tender twig, sprig, limb, or sprout, but a full grown, strong rod
  • Capable of being used as a shepherd’s rod, king’s scepter, a club for war and protection.

Vs. 2- “And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him…” (Isaiah prophecies of Christ’s anointing; Isaiah 61:1- “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me…” through verse 3)

 *Beauty for ashes

  • Symbol of change God brought through Jesus Christ

*Luke 4:18- Jesus quotes Isaiah’s prophecy of His (Christ’s) anointing and says it is fulfilled (vs. 21)

*John 1:32- And John bare record saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon Him…” (vs. 33)

*John 3:34- “For He whom God hath sent speaks the words of God; For God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto Him” (fullness; complete potency)

*Acts 10:38- Jesus anointed with Holy Ghost & power.

*God’s breathing upon us; we comprehend God to the degree that He is affecting our senses; we walk reverently; worship fully to the degree our lifestyle of reverence/worship; creates a fragrance; an odor

* We delight so in reverencing God, it causes Him to breathe on all we do; the Breath of Life (we watched so much die over the past few years)

*Our life is like a vapor; a breathe; a sweet odor; atom of time (a jot; tiny particle; physics term); a moment

*James 4:14- “life it is even a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away” Job 7:7- “remember my life is a wind…” Psalm 78:39- For He remembered that we were but flesh; a wind that passes away and comes not again.”

*Like when you smell a sweet aroma in the wind that blows (i.e. food cooking, perfume in the wind, a floral that releases its fragrance)
